Guest guest
hare krishna. all glories to sri guru and sri govinda. i have seen that in the us iscowp is doing an excellent job of protecting cows. they also work on schemes to make cow protection economically viable, which is necessary to make it successful on a large scale. in time, they may beat the "mechanized cow" economy. i dont know if there is a similar cow protection exercise in india especially south india. in india, it should be more viable. though there is no straightforward solution for large scale cow protection, the following are some of the possible lines of thought that can help save the cows 1) research & develop ayurvedic/herbal alternatives to increase milk production as instead of chemical treatments harmful to the cows. 2) research & develop value-added products that have long shelf-life from cow's milk, urine etc. this will give enough profit to protect them during old age. basically, they pay for their retirement as most parents do today even in india. 3) research & develop products that can be developed from the wastes of old cows so that it is more profitable to keep them alive rather than kill them for meat 4) take a genuine political initiative 5) spread krishna consciousness and the need for cow protection. the initiative for the first three will come only if the fourth one happens. to enable that there needs to be enough material on cow protection accessible in all iskcon centers. i would like to know if there is any handbook cow protection.
