It unites different conceptions and varieties of religious riturals etc........ into one theme of devotion to God. Often SB is said to be same amongst purana as Sama Veda is amongst veda. The great unifier. In Tattva Sandarbha this has been explained. I will try to dig up appropriate verse later on.
