I am currently working on a biography about Haridasa Thakura. I have found some

material on his life in a book published by Vrajaraja Press called Sri Advaita

Prakasa, which is not to be found elsewhere. The books purports to be by Sri

Advaita Acarya's disciple called Isana Nagara. Can anyone tell me anything

about the authenticity or inauthenticity of this book? I don't want to cite it

if it is unreliable.

Thanks to anyone who can clarify this for me.

Haribol, it is an authentic book and was written by Sri Isana Nagara

who was Advaita Acharya's personal servant. It is authoritative for

disciples in Advaita Acharya's disciplic succession.

OK thanks. However, another question arises from your reply: It is authentic for

those coming in AAcarya's line of succession. But the reason I asked this

question is that BSST indicated that any information purporting to be authentic

about the early history of HThakura is usually unreliable. Is this an exception?

Is it cited by any of the acaryas in our line of succession?

I don't know this, but within the ocean of unreliable data, you might consult

various academic studies by Rebecca Manring, Tony K. Stewart, or Joseph

O'Connell. As I recall, Dr. Manring might have translated it; see her: Sacred

biography in the formation of religious community: Advaitacarya and the genesis

of Gaudiya Vaisnavism. 1995 Ph.D. diss., University of Washington. I hope this

helps.
