Guest guest
I would like to know if there is interest in critically examining the philosophies of Sankara, Madhva, Ramanuja and examining them from Chaitanyite perspective (and see their compatibility with that of Badarayana's). We can take it one by one and discuss important topics such as, 1) Brahman, 2) Jiva and its relation Brahman 3) Prakrti and its relation to Brahman 4) Means of attaining Brahman and so on. The discussion can be limited to Upanishads, the Vedanta sutras and Gita. I think this will be a very interesting exercise, if done methodically and very useful for educating interested devotees. I'm assuming it has not been done in the past on this forum, atleast not to the extent that I'm fathoming. Dr. S.M.S. Chari has compared Sankara, Madhva and Ramanuja in his "Philosophy of Upanishads" and concluded that Ramanuja's is most compatible with the upanishadic intent (Theisis monism, that is). Has anything similar been carried out by Gaudiya scholars? in your service, Aravind. Finance: Get your refund fast by filing online

Personally, I don't feel my understanding of Acintya Bheda Abheda is strong enough to have such comparative discussion. But if anyone else is interested, please feel free. > 1) Brahman, > 2) Jiva and its relation Brahman > 3) Prakrti and its relation to Brahman > 4) Means of attaining Brahman and so on. To this you might want to add the following: 5) Nature of various pramaanas 6) Brahman as material and efficient cause 7) Views on jiivan-mukti > The discussion can be limited to Upanishads, the Vedanta sutras and Gita. > And why it should be would make for another interesting topic of discussion. > I think this will be a very interesting exercise, if done methodically and very useful for educating interested devotees. OBL Kapoor does a brief comparison of Achinta Bheda Abheda with the philosophies of other schools, but his comparison with Raamaanuja, Madhva, and other Vaishnavas is short, and I suspect is not the last word as he thinks it to be. This is in his book _The Philosophy and Religion of Sri Caitanya_.
