Guest guest
Dear Devotees, Hare Krishna Please accept my humble obeisances All Glories to Srila Prabhupada Dear Gaurasundar Prabhu, Thank you for your mail. Your point is being pursued in our humble attempt (myself and 2 more devotees in Bangalore) to get a portal started for this purpose. We are not going to start off with comparative study. Rather we would be diving deep into Gaudiya Vaishnava siddhanta as it pertains to Vedantic theology. We are working on a catechism that explains our perspective in this regard. Only when this is adequately performed can we move onto comparative studies. working on obtaining a portal - will invite you once the technicalities have been fulfilled. Hare Krishna your servant r. jai simman singapore I wonder if anyone here knows the theology of GaudiyaVaishnavism properly through and through beforeattempting to draw a comparison on points of othersampradayas?Haribol, Gaura
Guest guest
Thanks for sending your replies on this thread. Krishna prabhu's was positive, however, like others, there was a genuine concern about the lack of knowledge on achintyabhedabheda. I too share this, although I think comparative study is a great way to learn more about AAB. Without gaining a good understanding of philosophies of purvacharyas, it is a little difficult to have focus. Also, If some issues are already nicely addressed, we can avoid spending time on those. On a forum like this, this is a difficult task, but very much possible. We need continuous postings, good moderation, and active participation by learned members. As I suggested in my previous email, we can discuss some basic topics, and see what the acharyas have to say about these. I think it is possible to gather the important texts used by acharyas to support their propositions, althought this may take time and needs good team work. For example, by reading any good introductory book on Advaita, one can extract the important upanishadic verses used by Sankara to bolster his philosophy. And, so on for others. I think this effort should go on independently of the good efforts being pursued by jai simman and co prabhus. In order to do a systematic study, we can form a team of interested members and assign tasks (such as gathering key verses, key arguments and so on...) and after gathering, we can begin our discussions. Those who are conversant with sanskrit can help in confirming the translations and others can try to contribute in different ways. By doing this, I think we will sow the seed for greater things to come in the next few decades. I believe there is certainly great scope for extending S.M.S. Chari's work to AAB. I hope many members will find this interesting. And, hope we can get started soon. Please share your thoughts, for or against. in your service, Aravind."Jai Simman s/o R.
