Who is maintaining the spiritual values in society?

In vedic society Prabhupada tells us that the brahmins

were the real authority and the king or ruler was

secondary and subordinate to them. In present society

the governing body is material and religion is seen as

a smaller optional section of society which gives the

impression that it is not an essential element to

general life which is completely wrong. Because of

this we can see a clear decline in moral and spiritual

values. People have far less mercy and tolerance for

one another and money,power and greed seem to be the

main motivating factors. If Krsna consciousness will

take us back to Godhead then where do these material

attitudes take someone? People are so ill informed

they think this kind of life can go on indefinitely

but we have been told that it will simply take them to

the lower hellish planets or an animal body where this

false pride and power will be stripped away.
