Guest guest
There is nothing wrong in quoting the sastras and refuting sankara. No one is pleading for acceptance. For Sri Vaishnavas, the personaliy of Sankara is not important. They just think that he does not have isvara krpa. For Madhwas, he is demon manimantha and so they dont have to respect him. But for gaudiyas, sankara is lord shiva himself who needs to be respected as a great vaishnava and who preached his philosphy as a devotional service to the lord. I just requested that Gerald not use Sankara's philosophy as an example for faulty interpretation when Sumeet's question is not about Sankara. It is a request for following etiquette. If one insists that his stand is right in using Sankara's works as example for wrong interpretation, then one should have studied sankara's works and be able to point out at least one fault. This does not change the fact that Advaita is incompatible with Achintya Bedha Abedha. Vishnu as Buddha also preached Buddhism, but disagreeing with Buddhism is not tantamount to disrespecting Buddha. There are many faults in Buddhism. By this statement, have I just disrespected Lord Vishnu? Nonsense. It seems to me, Gerald, that you must prove your point that Shankara's position is faulty before assuming it as such. This would seem to imply that someone here will answer you on a point-by-point basis with reference to his actual works if you choose to do so. Would you care to do the honors?
