Guest guest
> I heard that in several occasions when Srila Prabhupada lectured in areas > where there was serious drought, it started to rain after his lecture. > Can anyone confirm this or give more details on those statements ? When I first went to Hyderabad they said that for three, four years there was no rain. Is it not? But since Hare Krsna mantra is being chanted, there is rainfall. (from Srila Prabhupada's lecture on Srimad-Bhagavatam 7.12.5 -- Bombay, April 16, 1976) Devotee (1): [break] ...saying that it is because of our chanting twenty-four hours a day that there is more rain this year. Prabhupada: Yes. In Hyderabad they also say. For six or seven years there was no rain. Now it is raining. This is practical. (Morning Walk -- November 24, 1975, Bombay) we have just completed our pandal programme in Hyderabad and it was very, very successful. In that portion there was no rain for two years, but due to our Sankirtana yagna the rain came and everyone was happy that we came to make it rain (Letter to: Revatinandana -- Ahmedabad 10 December, 1972) At the Hare Krsna farm in Hyderabad, India, several years ago, Srila Prabhupada told his disciples that they didn't need to dig so many wells. He said that if they simply performed Hare Krsna kirtana (congregational chanting of the Lord's holy names, with the accompaniment of musical instruments and dancing) and if they simply distributed prasadam (food offered to Lord Krsna), sufficient rain would fall. "So one day we performed a big kirtana and distributed prasadam," recalls Tejas dasa. "At first there wasn't a cloud in the sky, but all of a sudden these clouds appeared -- and it was the heaviest rain we'd ever experienced in our whole lives. The reservoir behind the temple got totally filled up. We felt ecstatic, and we went out and chanted Hare Krsna for two hours in the rain. Here was real proof of the power of remembering Krsna."
