sacred throwout

In the early days of the movement, there was a concept introduced called sacred

throwout. I have heard different ideas about how to treat items that are

sanctified but no longer useful. For example, I have heard that tulasi limbs may

be buried after Tulasi has left, and the limbs are not useful for beads, etc. I

have also heard that She can be burned in a yajnic fire. What about pictures,

brahman threads, broken Deity paraphernalia etc. I would like to hear something

authoritative on this.

I would also like to know about this. What about things like used

ghee wicks, old tulasi leaves, etc? What about old tulasi beads that

are worn on the neck but have broken? Flower prasadam I just

distribute to others, and to plants if there are no humans to give

them to.
