No material form for non-devotees

There is one more critical piece of evidence I wished to bring up on

this matter. This is in regards to the theory that unqualified

persons were shown a "material form" of Lord Krishna when He

descended, since they are allegedly unable to see His spiritual form

even in avataara.

Please see Shriimad Bhaagavatam 1.9.39

(http://vedabase.net/sb/1/9/39/en):

bhagavati ratir astu me mumuurShor yam iha niriikShya hataa gataaH

svaruupam || bhaa 1.9.39 ||

At the moment of death, let my ultimate attraction be to Shrii

Krishna, the Personality of Godhead. I concentrate my mind upon the

chariot driver of Arjuna who stood with a whip in His right hand and

a bridle rope in His left, who was very careful to give protection to

Arjuna's chariot by all means. THOSE WHO SAW HIM ON THE BATTLEFIELD

OF KURUKSHETRA ATTAINED THEIR ORIGINAL FORMS AFTER DEATH. (bhaagavata

puraaNa 1.9.39)

In the above verse, Bhiishma clearly says that those who saw the Lord

on the battlefield (no exception made for unqualified persons, of

which there certainly must have been many including the Kauravas),

attained liberation. Now, the question here is as follows: if

unqualified people see only a "material form" of the Lord, then how,

by seeing a "material form," did they get liberation? It is well

known that by meditating on the transcendental qualities of the Lord,

one gets liberation - janma karma cha me divya eva.m yo vetti

tattvataH.... etc (BG 4.9). No such principle as been stated for

those who meditate on material objects.

The conclusion therefore, is that the Kauravas et. al. saw the

spiritual form of the Lord, and for that reason they got liberation.

Srila Prabhupada confirms in his purport, "All the soldiers and

persons on the Battlefield of Kurukshetra attained their original

spiritual form like the Lord after their death because by the

causeless mercy of the Lord they were able to see Him face to face on

that occasion." Note that he said "all" - as in, Kauravas and

Paandavas - envious soliders as well as qualified devotees.

I certainly hope this puts to rest this foolish theory about Lord

displaying only a material form for nondevotees.

warm regards,

K

Dear Vaisnavas,

Please accept my obeisances.

I still have one question on what KS reply. I agree

with most of it.

How is that the Kauravas being non devotees attained a

wonderful spiritual form similar to the Lord.Does this

mean that they have become devotees after their death?

Does SP means they were given that by wonderful

causeless mercy by God or is it they attained

impersonal liberation?

Or is it like we have seen in many cases that Lord

Krsna granted liberation to the demons.

Please correct my understanding.

Your servant,

Sai

Dear firends,

Lord Krishna was visible to all the people in Dwapara

yuga as Gopala to some,as Maha Vishnu to some, and

Prema swaroopa to some as per their bhava. For Yashoda,

he was like her son.for the rakshasas he was like

enemy.for ajnanis like kauravas he never shown his

ultimate form. The ultimate happiness felt by the

devotees by seeing the form of lord Krishna is

great.lORD kRISHNA WAS NOT SEPARATE from the souls. He

was one with all.Hence all the gopikas saw every thing

in him.this is the real devotion.Absorbing our mind in

the lotus feet of lord Krishna is the real devotion.
