On the day of Gundica-marjana in 1934, Srila Sarasvati Thakura cited rathe

ca vamanam drstva punar janma na vidyate: "By seeing Lord Jagannatha on His

chariot, one no longer has to take birth," but explained that this was not

the Gaudiyas' motive in attending Rathayatra. Their connection with Lord

Jagannatha is only through service, and their intention is to take Him to

Gundica, which is synonymous with their hearts, and keep Him there to serve

Him in the best possible manner.
