Guest guest
Dear Prabhuji, Hare Krishna. The article link u had sent presents at best a sociological explanation for caste being external to Hinduism with a few deliberately selective pieces of evidence, while omitting many others not in favour of such a stance. It is clear that the writer has used the article to present his personal slant on the issue. concepts that r shastric must be first understood on the basis of shastra and then applied on society. sadly, many view religion or spirituality in an anthropomorphic sense, trying to present scriptural statements merely as legitimising or rationalising tools for exploitative elements in society. while such attempts cannot be denied, there is no logical manner to prove the issue in many cases because the motive of exploitation if not clearly visible in document can only be inferred based on one's own reading of the subject matter. Scripture should be maturedly applied on society. It is not that immature and retaliatory views of social justice be couched in scripture or applied to its understanding. This is how a spiritualist should view issues. I suggest that we read the acharyas' works in this regard. There is too much junk material going on on the issue of jati and varna ranging from the strongly body-oriented caste brahmanas to the fire-spitting and disgusted but equally body-oriented 'lower' sections of society, all of whom miss the essential non-exploitative God-given scriptural basis of Varnashrama dharma. ys jai simman jakarta
