Guest guest
Hari Bol Dandavat pranams to all The residents of Mathura like to say Krishna was born in Mathura, but the residents of Vrindavana like to say Krishna was born in Gokula. So, what is the truth? 1) In the Srimad Bhagavatam it is described that Nanda Maharaja was happily performing the Jata-karma ceremony for Krishna. This means that the umbilical cord is cut between the mother and the child. So, if Krishna would not be born in Gokula how this birth day ceremony could be performed? And how this could happen if Vasudeva brought Krishna to Gokula? 2) Srila Visvanatha Cakravarti Thakura writes that Krishna was born before Yogamaya, she is called the younger sister of Krishna. Therefore, both of them were born from mother Yasoda. Further he says that Krishna took birth simultaneously in two places. He appered to Vasudeva as Visnu because the love and affection of Vasudeva was mixed with owe and reverence. 3) When Vasudeva requested Vishnu to take two handed form the acaryas describe that Gokula Krishna went to Mathura and absorbed the Vishnu form within Himself. 4) Another proof that Krishna was born in Gokula is that - when Kamsa tried to kill Yogamaya in the prison of Vasudeva, Yogamaya slipped out of his hand; rose in to the air and after chastising Kamsa she said: "The Supreme Personality of Godhead who is your enemy has already taken birth somewhere else." 5) The most interesting evidence for Krishna's birth in Gokula are the direct words of Sukadeva Goswami the most exalted speaker of the Srimad Bhagavatam. In his ecstasy he said: "Vrindavana is very glorious because of your janma, and because of that Laksmi always resides there. It is only for your sake that we, your servants maintain our lives. We have been searching everywhere for you so, please show yourself to us. Krishna is not born as an ordinary child. He manifests Himself by His own internal potency. Thus he is understood to be unborn with no beginning and no end. Just as Lord Varaha appeared from the nostrils of Lord Brahma so Krishna appeared as the son of Vasudeva and Devaki & Nanda and Yasoda. At the end just to mention from Bhakti-rasamrta- sinddhu: Krishna is perfect in Dvaraka; more perfect in Mathura; and most perfect in Vrindavana. We prefer to worship Krishna of Vrindavana who Lord Caitanya was always remembering. ys: ard
