Guest guest
Does anybody have a quote by Prabhupada where he said book distribution is the highest form of preaching? I've researched extensively and found nothing. I know that he did NOT say it was the ONLY form of preaching. I am asking because in some temples book distributors enjoy a superior status over other types of devotees, the implication being that they are advanced in exact proportion to the quantity of books they distribute. Guest guest
Hare Krsna Ray, "The books are there for reading. By reading, you become purified." Mornimg walk 6/7/76 LA Devotees honor the book distributors because they go out into the material world daily and confront maya so they can freely introduce others to Krsna. SP said sankirtan is good, but giving out books is brhat mrdanga. It can be heard all over. So book distibution is a great austerity. But you will not find such a quote as you are looking for anywhere. Service to Krsna is as absolute as He is. No service will automatically bring on advancement. It is in the attitude of the servant that one makes advancement. Some services will challenge our determination more than others. If you rise to the challenge, you will make advancement. That depends on the individual performing the service. Srila Prabhupada also stressed that devotees do not read his books enough. So no matter what our service, books are the basis of our advancement.
