Guest guest
What is the symbolism behind ekadandis renouncing shikha and sutra? Does it stand for their transcending the role of a householder brahmana? That tridandis retain them suggests that their concepts of shikha and sutra are quite different. What are the other major differences in the concepts of ekadanda- and tridanda-sannyasa? Presumably the Madhva understanding of ekadanda-sannyasa is considerably different to that of Shankara. Considering that acharyas of all orthodox sampradayas, including Shankara, accepted and awarded sannyasa, how did they interpret or otherwise deal with the Brahma-vaivarta Purana verse proscribing sannyasa in Kali-yuga?
