Guest guest
PAMHO and AGTSP I last week visited the Tirumala temple of Lord Venkateshwara and also the the ISKCON temple at Tirupati. During the visit to a museum at Tirumala I found that it was stated that Lord Narayana appeared in Kaliyuga to give the devotees benedictions they were seeking in terms of Money or any other benefits they were seeking. A Hoarding outside ISKCON Tirupati stated that the abode of Lord Venkateshwara in Tirumala was the best and that there is not a similar place elsewhere in this world nor in Vaikunta. I have one question on this one and require some clarification. Am I right in believing that Krishna appeared in this Kaliyuga only once as Chaitanya Mahaprabhu to convey the Sankirtan movement and the Maha mantra. And how does not one put the statement on the Lord Venkateshwara appearance etc. I think Krishna has stated that he would appear again as the Kalki avatar after approx 427,000 years from now. He also appeared about 5000 years ago as Krishna himself. I believe that should not be looking for material benefits. Am sorry if I am wasting your time in such stupid questions. But really concerned whether we are to look for material or spiritual benefits and go after them. Thanks & best regards Chandar

As the Lord's incarnations are as limitless as the waves of the sea, so the Deity forms manifest in various places in the material cosmos can also be said to have descended there for the purposes any other incarnation fulfils. > I believe that should not be looking for material benefits. That's right; the best devotion is that which has no motive other than Krsna's pleasure. MDd

Frankly, it does not sound like a Sri Vaishnava idea. The appearance of Lord Venkateshwara is described in the Vaasudeva Mahaatmya of the Skandha Puraana. Therein, nothing is mentioned about appearing just to give material boons. yours, K
