Guest guest
Regarding the discussion over reconciling different, contradictory points of view, I wanted to point out the following URL: http://www.dvaita.org/shaastra/gita/bg1041.html This is a link from the Dvaita list. Now I want to make it clear that I do not approve of the individuals who run this site, and I think we could spend hours attacking their character and unsuitability to present Dvaita-vaada to the public. This, however, is not the point. The point is that *this* particular paper contains quotes directly from their aachaaryas (even aachaaryas within our paramparaa) which refutes our understanding of Krishna as the original Supreme Personality of Godhead. I do not agree with their rebuttal, nor am I endorsing it. I provide this link here for two reasons: 1) to show how difficult it is to try to reconcile with seemingly contradictory points of view -- here is an example of someone who has given his interpretation on a particular shloka and then gone out of his way to refute other possible interpretations, especially ours 2) to provide material for discussion - this is, after all, the Achintya list, and if nothing else, we are here to reexamine our convictions and learn how to better defend them. I would be interested in opening up some discussion on how we might respond to the analysis given above -- I am of the opinion that our aachaaryas are not mere sentimentalists who are going to just roll over at the first sign of a challenge. And while I do not entertain any hope of converting the Dvaita followers to our point of view, I think it is important to be able to explain these things to our colleagues so as to prevent them from losing faith. regards, Krishna
