Guest guest
Haribol to all of you! I have recently d to this group, so I'd like to introduce myself before I may post my contributions to the discussions. I live in London, UK, and have been connected with ISKCON practically since my birth since the famous Bhaktivedanta Manor is only 20mins drive from where I live. I practically grew up there as I used to go there every Sunday and go to the Sunday School. I am also a Life Member. I did not agree with the theology because I guess I was brought up in a Mayavadi environment, and so I spent most of my teenage life following Mayavadi philosophy. After a time (around 1997) I began to feel an intense dissatisfaction with Mayavada and all of my confusing questions and confused mind came to a head, and I decided to stop thinking about God-connected things for a while. I passed about six months in this way, with no reading of books, listening to bhajans, sadhana, etc, but I always prayed every night because it is my habit to pray before I sleep. And so after about six months, I picked up a "religious" book because I felt that being "without" God was not giving me much satisafaction either. I consider it rather fortunate that the book I picked up was a random book from Srila Prabhupada's Srimad Bhagavatam set. My father had bought the Srimad Bhagavatam when I was at a very young age, and I used to spend most of my time looking at the pictures since I was far too young to read such high-level stuff. The book which I picked up was the one in which Lord Kapila is discoursing to His mother, Devahuti. Within that one book most of my Mayavadi ideas were destroyed, and I learnt the truth from that one book. I read through more of Prabhupada's books (I have everything except the Chaitanya Caritamrta) and then I became firmly convinced that to attain Krishna Consciousness was the supreme goal and the best sadhana was the Holy Name. I returned back to the Manor, returning to my roots so to speak, and the rest is history. I attend the Youth Meetings and I do some kitchen seva when I can. I would like to go on book distribution. I also love to participate in Kirtan. Thank you for listening, Haribol. Sanjay ===== "Radha-Krishna prana mora jugala-kisora, jivane marane gati aro nahi mora."
