Guest guest
Dear members, I joined this group because I felt that other groups did not really satisfy me. I thought that this group is meant to discuss siddhanta and I was right. I received my first digest yesterday and it was brilliant, exactly what I was looking for. I will tell my fellow devotees about this club. In any case, I read a few of the postings about the Tattvavadi viewpoints, and I am going to read all the postings soon. In the meantime I would like to contribute my two cent's worth. Being a regular attendee at Bhaktivedanta Manor, I heard that a debate too place in India recently between some Tattvavadis and Gaudiya Vaishnavas. I have not heard about the outcome of the debate or who exactly participated, but the subject was generally about the validity of the Gaudiya lineage. I was surfing the Net recently and I came across this: http://www.gosai.com/dvaita/madhvacarya/index.html Apologies for providing a Gaudiya Math website, as we are strictly children of Srila Prabhupada, but I felt the knowledge was good and worth reading at least to attain some strength and enlivenment. Haribol, Sanjay (MODERATOR NOTE: I personally do not have a problem with Gaudiya Math material appearing on achintya, because as followers of Srila Prabhupada we are taught to think and evaluate everything according to shaastra. This is not a strictly ISKCON-only forum. Actually, even Gaudiya Math followers are welcome here, and I encourage them to speak up also. However, the important point is that no one is immune from having his views questioned and examined according to guru, saadhu, shaastra. Wherever a doubt exists regarding the validity of a particular commentary or interpretation, and no other evidence exists to the contrary, we give preference for Srila Prabhupada's interpretation. That is my bias, since I consider myself a follower of Srila Prabhupada's paramparaa. But if someone has doubts about Srila Prabhupada's commentaries, we can discuss that also, provided that the discussion stays polite, scripturally-based, and non-political. Brahminical culture, which Srila Prabhupada exemplified, requires that we discuss things in this way. Srila Prabhupada himself said in his Bhagavad-gita purports that religion without philosophy is merely sentiment, or even fanaticism. I want for Achintya to try to live up to that spirit. -- Krishna Susarla) ===== "Radha-Krishna prana mora jugala-kisora, jivane marane gati aro nahi mora." Clarification: This is actually a URL from the website of the Narasimha-Chaitanya Math, of which I admittedly know little but I believe it is a daughter organization from GM (or a "sister" organization to ISKCON). Actually, I have been in correspondence with the devotee who put up those essays (if I remember right his name is something like B.V. Giri Swami), and I have even provided some material and suggestions. They are interested in completely refuting some of the allegations made against our sampradaaya by the followers of Madhva who are on the internet. Frankly, I find that to be a noble undertaking, and I feel that this forum also is appropriate for those kinds of discussions. your servant, Krishna Susarla

HH Jayapataka Swami Maharaja related in public last month in ISKCON Mayapur that when he recently visited Udupi, the current head of the Maadhvas (Pejawar Swamiji, if I am not mistaken), declared that ISKCON is bona fide as members of the Madhva-sampradaaya. Pejawar Swamiji also reportedly stated that Vaadiraaja Tiirtha, who was a later head of the Maadhva community, was influenced by Shrii K.ri.sh.na Chaitanya. Now, Pejawar Swamiji's statements weren't recorded, as far as I know. One of my devotee-friends from Bangalore also stated that the same Swami also stated in a Kannada journal that the lineage of the Gau. diiya Vai.sh.navas from Madhavendra Puri onwards are bona fide members of the Madhva-sampradaaya. I thought this might be interesting to you... YS, VGDas
