Guest guest
> It is stated that SB contains 18,000 verses. I believe it completely. No > doubt about it. > But when I personally counted all the verses in SB it comes to about 14,024. An algebraic count of the verses does indeed result in 14,024 verses, the number you pointed out. I asked this question to one of the editors/translators of SB, who translated the last 2 cantos of SB to english. He said that this could be becasue of the manner in which the verses are counted. He said that in sanskrit, some verses need to be counted/divided after 2 lines and some after 4 lines. For some reason, in SB the verses are not divided in this manner. Should some one count after dividing it in this manner, then it should result in 18,000 verses, because SB it self says that it consists of 18,000 verses. If no one has done, it could be good project for a team of devotees to take it up and show that the count is consisent with 18,000.

Some of it is also in prose instead of verse. MDd
