Shri Krishna Janmashtmi was celebrated in ISKCON-Japan in Tokyo on

5-Aug-2001. More than 250 guests celebrated the auspicious festival with

enthusiasm.

There were spiritual entertainment programs for the pleasure of Sri Sri

Radha-Krishna, Sri Sri Nitai-Gaurasundara, Srila Prabhupad & the assembled

devotees.

 

Ecstatic Vaishnav Bhajans was lead by H.G. Kirtaneshwar Prabhu and supported

by other devotees.

 

Japanese group of Indian dance, 'Kannagi', professionally presented Bharat

Natyam, depicting different pastimes of the Lord. All the dancers were of

Japanese origin.

 

Drama & Slide-Show depicting different pastimes of Lord Krishna was

wonderfully directed by H.G. Madhumangal Prabhu.

 

H.H. Kavicandra Maharaj gave a short speech on Krishna Lila. He encouraged

the Indian guests to cooperate in preaching Krishna consciouisness in Japan.

Indians have received many things in Japan. Now it is their turn to

reciprocate by giving Krishna to Japanese.

 

H.G. Radhika Raman Prabhu & his group presented Krishna Conscious Band. Many

guests danced in ecstacy. One Japanese youth commented that never in his

life did he experienced such ecstacy. He felt very free and out of the box

of external covering.

 

The program concluded with Aarti of Their Lordships Sri Sri

Nitai-Gaurasundar. Guests offered gifts to Krishna and respectfully

performed swinging ceremony of Bal Krishna.

 

Congregation members whole-heartedly participated in organizing the

festival. They cooked & packed Prasadam, participated in the drama, compered

the program, managed the stalls of books, BTG, Krishna Tshirts, CD,

cassettes, BG CD-ROM, etc. and helped in overall organization.

 

There was a make-shift market outside the program hall. Devotees arranged a

stall there and blessed the people with Krishna conscious paraphernalia.

 

Actual Janmashtmi was celebrated with 13-Aug-2001 with Harinaam on the

streets of Tokyo, Bhajan, Abhishek of Shri Girirajji & Saligramji, mid-night

darsha/kirtan and sumptuous Prasadam. Congregation were presented with

Krishna posters. Many congregation members stayed over-night in the temple

to attend Mangala-Aarti on Srila Prabhupad's Vyas Puja day. There was

Harinaam in the afternoon. All devotees offered their realizations to

glorify to Srila Prabhupad in the evening program. It was very intense. Then

devotees honored wonderful feast.
