Guest guest
Haribol! My mother has just listed my small Sunday Program on the religious services list for the college that she works for--apparently there aren't even any "Hindu" category listings for our area. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas for other things I could do during my programs, all we are doing now is having arotik, kirtan, bhajans, Bhagavad-Gita reading/discussion, prasad. That seems like a lot but it really isn't. I don't know if any new people will come, but I feel like I should be doing more. Any suggestions? Also, if there is anyone that has allergies to smoke, like I do, I have found that Japanese incense does not make me as sick as Indian-style does. In my small apartment, incense smoke doesn't have room to spread out like it does in the temple, and it often makes my eyes water, nose run, sneeze, etc., which is distracting when you are trying to offer arotik or otherwise worship. So for everyday use, I offer japanese incense, which is fragrant but less smoky. Also the kind I use doesn't contain animal products or synthetics, which I have heard that some incenses do. For special occaisions I still try to use Indian, but for everyday I use japanese, and then I know that if there are tears in my eyes, they are tears of love, not an allergic reaction to the incense! Also, does anyone know of a plant availiable in USA that is easy to care for indoors, and will bear flowers in the winter? I don't have a green thumb, but I would like to be able to offer Lord Nrsimha fresh homegrown flowers year-round.
