I apologize if I have forgotten anyone. Of course, there is

no "deadline" for "signing up." I just wanted to get an idea as to

whom I can expect to be reading. I hope other list members will also

take part in the reading and/or discussions. I'm sure that the

responses I have received so far represent only a fraction of the

total number of interested devotees.

I thought I would kick off the discussion with some take-home points

I got from reading the NoI Preface.

- Nectar of Instruction is the translation of Shrii Upadeshaamrita by

Srila Rupa Gosvami. Just as Shrii Shikshaashtakam is to Shrii

Chaitanya Mahaaprabhu, so also is Shrii Upadeshaamrita to Srila Rupa

Gosvami. Both are short works summarizing some essential points in

devotional service.

- The Krishna conscious movement (or Gaudiiya Vaishnava sampradaaya)

is under the supervision of the six Gosvamis, headed by Srila Rupa

Gosvami.

- In order to understand the most exalted pastimes of Lord Krishna

(specifically His pastimes with the gopikas), one has to be a

follower of Sri Chaitanya by following in the footsteps of the Six

Gosvamis

- One has to control his mind and senses by coming to the platform of

sattva-guna (mode of goodness). By reading the instructions of Srila

Rupa Gosvami, we can come to the platform of the mode of goodness,

and then understand how to make further progress.

- "Advancement in Krishna Consciousness depends on the attitude of

the follower." -- 'nuff said

- Although Srila Rupa Gosvami has written many other books, Shrii

Upadeshaamrita (The Nectar of Instruction) "constitutes the first

instructions for neophyte devotees."
