Guest guest
Dear Devotees Please accept my humble obesainces unto your lotus feet Hare Krishna Recently I discovered the following site- http://www.pushtimargiya.org/ which is related to Shuddhaadviata philosophy of Sri Vallabhacarya. While going through the website I found the following under the section named - Principles of Pushtimarga Here under the subheading founder it is written- " At its root are the scriptures (Vedas, Upanishads, Brahm Sutra, Gita, Shree Mad Bhagwatam) and its founder or the one who brought it into vogue is Shree Mahaprabhuji. He was a great Acharya (religious teacher) an incarnation of Krishna. Shree Vallabh Acharya appeared in the 16th century. He took form to remove the prevalent misconceptions surrounded Hinduism resulting in the domination of Moguls and to remove the prevalent Buddhist traditions. " I was intrigued to know that the pustimarg followers accept Sriman Mahaprabhu as avatar of Sri Krishna and also as founder of their sect. It is also interesting to note that in the section about the author the author first offers obesiances unto Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu and then offers it to Sri Vallabh Acarya. There's a long tangled history between the Gaudiya vaishnavas and the pusti-marg vaishnavas. Babhru das

Pustimargis refer to Vallabhacarya as "Mahaprabhu." Like the bhaktas of almost any other vaishnava sampradaya, they believe their founder to be an incarnation of some sort. Some descendents say Vallabha is Krsna himself, others say he is Agni, others say he is the mouth of Krsna. I haven't heard sastric references for any of these. Kavi Karnapura's Gauraganoddesadipika identifies Vallabha as an incarnation of Sukadeva Gosvami (Vallabha-sampradaya devotees are also very fond of the Srimad Bhagavatam). Whatever Vallabha's ontological identity, he deserves a great deal of respect because it is clear that he was also a personal associate of Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu. Incidentally, the Lord's name "Mahaprabhu" explicitly appears in the Gopala-sahsra-nama-stotram, a part of the Sammohana-tantra said to have been spoken by lord Siva to his consort Parvati.
