Guest guest
Hare Krishna These are some points I noted: 1. text 1 highlights the necessity for controlling the mind and senses. Text 2 describes the implications of not controlling the mind and senses. it further explains how to meet these basic demands to help us remain in Krishna consciousness. 2. the purpose of ISKCON - to give people an opportunity to associate with those who have not forgotten Krsna. 3. 'those outside of the Krishna consciousness movement are interested in reading heaps of newspapers, magazines and novels, solving crossword puzzles and doing many other nonsensical things." I suppose that 'netsurfing' can now also be added to this point as an example of people spending hours doing nonsensical things! Netsurfing for non-Krishna conscious material, that is. your servant shashika

Text one and two really go together in that sense. Srila Prabhupada also speaks in the purport of the consequences of engaging in too much prajalpa -- unnecessary talk. That could also include talk about politics or gossip. Achintya was made specifically so that such things are filtered out. Another point that came up in the purport was the concept of moral altruism, nationalism, humanism, etc. All those "isms" are engaged in by people who don't want religion but neverthless want to inject some meaning into their lives. Such "isms" don't help one achieve the goal of life, and in fact they simply are a distraction. > I suppose that 'netsurfing' can now also be added to this point as an example of people spending hours doing nonsensical things!
