Haribol!

I once read an *EXCELLENT* explanation of the jiva

issue in an old BTG issue, that was so wonderful that

it even explained the pertinent Space-Time paradoxthat

is intimately connected with the Jiva Issue. I

originally intended to transcribe the two articles by

Ravindra Svarupa das on this issue, but then I

remembered that I had seen it online at his official

website.

Therefore I urge you all to visit that website and

read that BEST explanation I have read so far of this

burning Jiva Issue:

1 -

http://www.rsdtm.com/PUBLICATIONS/CONCEIVING/conceiving.htm

2 -

http://www.rsdtm.com/PUBLICATIONS/CONCEIVING_2/conceiving_2.htm

[NOTE: The second essay takes evidence from much of

Srila Prabhupada's leters and purports, but the exact

references are not provided in the online version. If

anybody ants the full list of references used in this

second essay then please mail me.]

In service of Gaura-Nitai,

Sanjay

Hare Krishna

Please accept my humble obesiances unto your lotus feet-

One thing I noted in the article at

http://www.rsdtm.com/PUBLICATIONS/CONCEIVING/conceiving.htm

was the author writes the following-

" As we have seen, the transcendental realm is eternally present,

an everlasting instant. Every soul in that realm must accordingly be

characterized as "nitya-mukta." This includes the souls that come

from the material world. For if a soul enters that realm from the

material world, can we ask "when did that soul arrive?" The

question does not apply. "Once" the soul gets there, that soul can

only be "nitya-mukta." He has, necessarily, "always" been there. This

is the logic of eternity. "

According to him even the conditioned soul when attains liberation

is termed as "nitya-mukta". However the proper understanding of the

term nitya-mukta is those souls who have never been conditioned since

time immemorial.

" One who is not materially infected and who does not forget Krsna

as his master is called nitya-mukta. In other words, one who is

eternally liberated from material contamination is called nitya-

mukta. From time immemorial the nitya-mukta living entity has

always been a devotee of Krsna, and his only attempt has been to

serve Krsna. Thus he never forgets his eternal servitorship to Krsna.

(Cc. Madhya-lila 20.118, purp.) "

This is how nitya-mukta has been described: serving Krsna from time

immemorial without indulgence in any other activity. Hence the view

of author that the conditioned soul when liberated can be called as

nitya-mukta is misunderstanding of proper definition of the

term "nitya-mukta".
