Guest guest
Dear devotees, Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada. I'd like to ask stupid question. I have two beades dettached from my japa-mala. So now I have only 106 beads. Should I get a new japa-mala or that's not principle how many beads we have? (I'm asking that because of some "esoteric" thoughts... :-) -- Your servant, Dennis. dennis_s

All glories to Guru Maharaj. As far as i know we need to chant 16 rounds on our japa mala which has 108 beads besides one Krsna bead. Please forgive my mistakes. your aspiring servant, Hirdesh dennis a. sushchenko [dennis_s] Friday, January 18, 2002 8:31 PM achintya Japa-mala Dear devotees, Please accept my humble obeisances. Guest guest
A slight twist: My first japa mala had a total of 110 beads. I bought another mala, not wanting to do anything to that one. I'm kind of attached to chanting Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare/ Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare 108 times around, although I was happier to be chanting one extra repetition on each round for those years instead of one to few! That is what I know devotees normally do. If you still have the beads that fell off you can get a devotee [who knows how to do it] to restring the beads. Usually devotees get it done in Vrndavan when they come for Kartik. your servant shashika
Guest guest
If two beads broke, and these are your initiation beads to which you are attached, then re-string them, adding two beads. This happened to me many years ago when my beads got slammed in a car door. I was able to fix the broken beads--one I had to "re-structure" with plastic wood to some extent--and re-string the beads.
