Administrative issues: bookmarks, posting, etc

Hare Krishna!

 

There are a couple of issues I wanted to bring up as reminders.

 

First, when replying to a message, please, please, please make sure

you delete any excessive quoted text from the message to which you

are replying. There are many devotees who post perfectly good

responses, but then they leave the entire replied-to message in the

body of the response. I'm sure you would all agree that keeping a 100-

line quoted message in the body of a response that only contains 3

original lines is simply inconsiderate. I will NOT edit such

postings, because otherwise everyone will ask me to do it, and I will

get swamped. Please be considerate and make sure your postings

conform to Achintya rules.

 

Secondly, when you are replying to the daily digest form of the list,

please make certain you change the subject line to reflect the actual

content of your message. This is to make it easier for devotees to

find specific postings when they search the archives. Messages

entitled "re: digest #125" are simply not descriptive, nor helpful.

 

Third, please check with me before posting bookmarks to the Achintya

list. Recently, within the last several days, some bookmarks were

posted that were grossly inappropriate. Others were not necessarily

inappropriate, but simply had not been reviewed by myself for

consideration. If you have a bookmark you would like me to add,

please send a private mail to achintya-owner. Do not

send it for general distribution to the list, unless it is part of a

posting meant for public eyes.

 

Aside from that, I just wanted to say that we have been having some

really nice postings and discussions lately, and especially some nice

postings regarding Nityaananda Trayodashi. Keep it up!
