Guest guest
Dear devotees, I am wondering if someone can explain the significance of the Prema- dhvani prayers which are recited at the end of every arati in Gaudiiya Vaishnava temples. Also, what is the origin of this practice? Is it found in the writings of our AchAryas like Hari-bhakti vilas? Certainly it seems to be unique to our sampradaaya, as I have never heard this as part of any other temple's arati. Thanks in advance, - K

One or another form of this tradition is common all across North India, wherever kirtana or arati is performed. However, I don't know if (or where) it is mentioned in Hari-bhakti-vilasa. As for it's significance, the name alone would suggest that it is simply an exuberant expression of love for the Lord and His bhaktas and representatives, though there maybe another traditional explanation I'm simply unaware of. I hope this helps. MDd
