Guest guest
On Easter Sunday night I also read the same chapter in " Nectar of Devotion" and more or less had the same questions you have stated. There are instances of praying to the demi gods for KRSNA but why it is necessary defies my conclusion. In this particular case just because a great authority like Sri Rupa has written that I will simply follow. There are very good reasons for someone like Sri Rupa who can read the mind of the Supremely personality of godhead Sri Chaitanya to write that and that in itself is good enough for me. Another example is before I start reading the Vedas I offer my obeisances to Lord Narayana, Nara Narayana Rishi, Goddess mother Swaraswati and Sri Vyasa. I do so because the Vedas recommend that and here again the logic is the same, the Vedas know what I could not possibly know. For clarities sake only thing I can tell you is I follow the authorities and in the end they are always right and any other way only gets people bewildered. Hope this is of help to you, Y.S. Ashokamrita.

Hope this is of help to you, Y.S. Ashokamrita. Just to make myself more clear, the reason I was especially confused is, although this is clearly written in Nectar of Devotion (that a Vaishnava should begin his worship with worship of Ganapati), nevertheless this does not seem to be a practice that Srila Prabhupada encouraged in the temples he founded. At least, I don't think I have seen Ganesha worship in any ISKCON temple, or even in the few Gaudiya Maths that I have visited. So why this departure from Srila Rupa Gosvami's instruction? I'm happy either way; I just wanted to get some clear instruction as to which approach we should go with (worship Ganesha or do not worship Ganesha) and why. I do have a small Ganesha murti on my altar, mostly becuase the murti was given to me rather than any special attempt on my part to get him. Perhaps some of our senior devotees can respond with their thoughts on this. Achintya rules normally forbid cross-posting of messages. However, if there is someone outside of this forum who might answer my question, I hereby grant permission for forwarding of THIS message (minus the quoted text above) as well as the first one by me initiating this thread. Thanks in advance. yours, - K
