SB 2.3.22

 

Especially for the householders devotees the path of deity

worship is

STRONGLY recommended.As far as possible every

householder,by the

direction of the spiritula master,must install the deity

of vishnu

forms

like RADHA KRISHNA,LAKSHMI NARAYANA,SITA

RAMA,NRSIMHA,VARAHA,GAURA

NITAI,MATSYA,KURMA,SALAGRAMA SILA and many other forms

vishnu like

TRIVIKRAMA,KESAVA,ACYUTA,VASUDEVA,NARAYANA and DAMODARA as

recommended

in the vaishnava tantras or puranas.By performing mangala

aratrika,niranjana,arcana,puja kirtana,srngara,bhoga

etc.Engagement

in

such worship of the deity under the direction of the

spiritual master

will greatly help the house holder to purify their very

esistence.

 

BG 9.32

 

It is said by the lord(even for those who are low born,or

woman,sudras

or vaisyas)and by becoming a devotee everyone is eligible

to return

back

to god head.The only qualification is that one must take

shelter of a

pure devotee of the lord who has thorough knowledge in the

trancendental

science of krishna in Bagavad Gita and Srimad Bhagavatam.

 

 

 

DEITY WORSHIP

The purport of this verse is that if someone becomes

attached to sri

murthi or deity

of krsna ,by worshipping at home then he will forget his

relationship

of

so called friendship,love

society.thus it is the duty of EVERY HOUSE HOLDER to

install deities

of

the lord at home and to begin the process of worshipping

along with

all

his family members.this will save everyone from such

unwanted

activities

as going to clubs,cinemas and dancing parties and smoking

drinking

etc.all such nonsense will be forgotten if one stress the

worship of

deities at home.

In his extensive purport to Bhagavata 7.5.23-24, Srila Prabhupada

makes an even stronger point:

 

"Grhastha devotees, however, are generally engaged in material

activities, and therefore if they do not take to Deity worship, their

falling down is positively assured."

Here's a nice variant of a traditional verse also quoted in the

Sri Caitanya-caritamrta, Madhya-lila, 24.313:

 

aham vedmi suko vetti

vyaso vetti na vetti va |

sridharah sakalam vetti

sri nrsimha-prasadatah ||

 

[Kashi Visvanatha said:]

I know; Suka knows.

Vyasa knows, or doesn't know.

[However,] Sridhara knows everything,

by the grace of Sri Nrsimha."

Srila Bilvamangala Thakura said (Krsna-karnamrtam, 2.85):

 

avatArAH santv anye

sarasija-nayanasya sarvatobhadrAH

kRSNAd anyaH ko vA

prabhavati go-gopa-gopikA-muktyai?

 

"There may be other incarnations

of the lotus-eyed Lord; they are all-auspicious.

But who other than Lord Krishna

appeared to deliver the cows, cowherds, and gopis?"
