Re: Worship of Lord Narasimha?

>> I have heard that worship of Lord Nrsimha can be

unsafe-- certainly in His ugra-form -- if He is not

cared for or feels neglected. This is why Ugra

Nrsimha pujaris must care only for Him, make a life

commitment to Him, and fulfill many other

requirements-- at least this is the system in ISKCON's

Mayapur temple. <<

I agree.

There was a story about the installation of the

Nrsimha-murti in Mayapur in Back To Godhead afew years

back.

The story of how the Deity was "created" and

"installed" is itself a wonderful story, but I

remember specific things like:

- Once begun, the worship of Lord Nrsimha must NEVER

stop, or be neglected, lest the Lord will display His

wrath. [The BTG story mentioned how in the past, whole

cities and towns had become "ghost towns" after the

worship of Lord Nrsimha was stopped or relaxed]

- The pujari must be a lifelong (?) male brahmachari.

It's a very interesting article, I will try and find

out the date for those of you who may have back

issues.

Also, even the PICTURES of Lord Nrsimhadeva in Mayapur

are absolutely terrifying. I found two at:

Even the pictures are trancendentally terrifying, so I

wonder how I will feel when I visit Mayapur.

By the way I just stumbled across this nice site about

deity worship:
