Dear Prabhus,

Please accept my humble obeisances at the lotus feet of

Srila Prabhupada.

Srimad-Bhagavatam 4.7.29

(Lord Shiva offers prayers to the Supreme Lord)

"Lord Shiva said : My dear Lord, my mind and consciousness are always

fixed on Your lotus feet, which, as the source of all benediction and the

fulfillment of all desires, are worshipped by all liberated great sages

because Your lotus feet are worthy of worship. With my mind fixed on Your

lotus feet, I am no longer disturbed by persons who blaspheme me, and I

excuse them out of compassion, just as You exhibit compassion toward all

living entities."

Srila Prabhupada teaches us (partial purport) : "Lord Shiva expresses

herein his regret at having been angry and having disturbed the sacrificial

activities of Daksha. King Daksha had insulted him in so many ways, and

thus he had become angry and had frustrated the entire sacrificial ceremony.

Later, when he was pleased, the yajna [sacrificial] performances

were reinstituted, and therefore he regretted his activities. Now he says

that because his mind is fixed on the lotus feet of the Supreme Lord, Vishnu.

he is no longer disturbed by the ordinary critics of his way of life. From

this statement by Lord Shiva it is understood that as long as one is on

the material platform one is affected by the three modes of material nature.

As soon as one is in Krsna consciousness, however, one is no longer affected

by such material activities. One should therefore always be fixed in Krsna

consciousness, busy in the transcendental loving service of the Lord. It

is guaranteed that such a devotee will never be affected by the actions

and reactions of the three modes of material nature.... The recommendation

of the Srimad-Bhagavatam is that one should always be Krsna conscious

and should never forget his transcendental relationship with the Lord...."

"Your Ever Well-Wisher"

(1969 - Letter to Mrs. L. )

"... Regarding the land available, this is a very good suggestion,

and if it is engaged in Krishna's service that will be a great opportunity

for you. We believe that every plot of land belongs to Krishna. The sooner

it is engaged in the service of Krishna the better it is for the temporary

owner. We come to this material world empty-handed and go away empty-handed.

The things which we possess during our duration of life are first achieved

and then let out along with all of our other temporary possessions. Therefore

the best use of possessions during our lifetime is to dedicate it to the

service of the Lord. The success of human life is considered when one fully

surrenders his life, his wealth, his intelligence and his words for the

benefit of the Lord.

Thank you once more for your letters. I hope that you

and your husband are both well.

Your ever well-wisher,

A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami

(From Srila Prabhupada's lecture on Bhagavad-gita 8.1 given

6-7-74 in Geneva... )

"... Therefore our only duty is to think of Krsna, Purusottama, so that

we may die at any moment, but we become spiritual salvation. This is our

only duty. We have no other duty. How to remember Krsna twenty-four hours?

That is the greatest process of yoga perfection. Yoginam api sarvesam

mad-gatenantar-atmana. Mad-gatenantar-atmana: [bg. 6.47] "Always thinking

of Me, he is first-class yogi." So this Hare Krsna maha-mantra is

so nice that as soon as you chant Hare Krsna, you immediately remember

Krsna. You go on chanting; that means remembering. So in chanting, chanting,

if there is death, so I am remembering Krsna. What is my fear? I am going

to Krsna, back to home, back to Godhead. It is so nice. So always be engaged

in Krsna consciousness, chant Hare Krsna mantra. Then you are sure

and safe not only in this life, but also you are going home, back to Godhead.

It is so nice thing..."

Hare Krsna Hare Krsna Krsna Krsna Hare Hare
