Guest guest
Dear Prabhus, Please accept my humble obeisances at the lotus feet of Srila Prabhupada. om namo bhagavate vasudevaya om namo bhagavate vasudevaya om namo bhagavate vasudevaya Srimad-Bhagavatam 4.7.47 "Dear Lord, we were awaiting Your audience because we have been unable to perform the yajnas according to the Vedic rituals. We pray unto You, therefore, to be pleased with us. Simply by chanting Your holy name, one can surpass all obstacles. We offer our respectful obeisances unto You in Your presence." Srila Prabhupada teaches us : "The brahmana priests were very hopeful that their sacrifice would be carried out without obstacles now that Lord Vishnu was present. It is significant in this verse that the brahmanas say, 'Simply by chanting You holy name we can surpass all obstacles, but now You are personally present.' The performers of yanja by Daksha was obstructed bu the disciples and followers of Lord Shiva. The brahmanas indirectly criticized the followers of Lord Shiva, but because the brahmanas were always protected by Lord Vishnu, Shiva's followers could not do any harm to their prosecution of the sacrificial process. There is a saying that when Krsna protects someone, no one can do him harm, and when Krsna wants to kill someone, no one can protect him. The vivid example was Ravana. Ravana was a great devotee of Lord Shiva, but when Lord Ramachandra wanted to kill him, Lord Shiva could not protect him. If some demigod, even Lord Shiva or Lord Brahma, wants to do harm to a devotee, Krsna protects the devotee. But when Krsna wants to kill someone, such as Ravana or Hiranyakashipu, no demigod can protect him." **************************************** Nectar of Devotion (Srila Prabhupada's summary study of Srila Rupa Goswami's Bhakti-rasamrita-sindhu), Ch. 22, 'Qualities of Krsna Further Explained' (p.175 - #32) "A person who is unable to bear another's distress is called compassionate. Krsna's compassion for distressed persons was exhibited when He released all of the kings imprisoned by Magadhendra. While dying, Grandfather Bhishma prayed to Krsna and described Him as the sun which eradicated darkness. The kings imprisoned by Magadhendra were put into dark cells, and when Krsna appeared there, the darkness immediately disappeared, just as if the sun had risen. In other words, although Magadhendra was able to imprison so many kings, upon the appearance of Krsna they were all released. Krsna released the kings out of His sincere compassion for them. Krsna's compassion was also exhibited when Grandfather Bhishma was lying on the bed of arrows which had been shot through his body. While lying in this position, Bhishma was very anxious to see Krsna, and thus Krsna appeared there. Upon seeing the pitiable condition of Bhishma, Krsna began speaking with tears in His eyes. Not only was He shedding tears, but He also forgot Himself in His compassion. Therefore, instead of offering obeisances to Krsna directly, devotees offer obeisances to His compassionate nature. Actually, because Krsna is the Supreme Personality of Godhead, it is very difficult to approach Him. But the devotees, taking advantage of His compassionate nature, which is represented by Radharani, always pray to Radharani (Hare) for Krsna's compassion." ***************************************** "...Chaitanya Mahaprabhu has recommended that everyone chant the Hare Krsna mantra just to cleanse the dust from the heart. If the dust of the heart is cleansed away, then one can actually understand the importance of the holy name...." (NoD, Ch.12,p. 107) Hare Krsna Hare Krsna Krsna Krsna Hare Hare Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare ***************************************** your servant........ #################################################################################
