Guest guest
Dear Prabhus, Please accept my humble obeisances at the lotus feet of Srila Prabhupada. om namo bhagavate vasudevaya om namo bhagavate vasudevaya om namo bhagavate vasudevaya Srimad-Bhagavatam 4.7.52-54 52)"The Lord continued : One who is not in proper knowledge thinks that the demigods like Brahma and Shiva are independent, or he even thinks that the living entities are independent. 53)"A person of average intelligence does not think the head and other parts of the body to be separate. Similarily, My devotee does not differentiate Vishnu, the all-pervading Personality of Godhead, from any thing or any living entiy. 54)"The Lord continued: One who does not consider Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva or the living entities in general to be separate from the Supreme, and who knows Brahman, actually realizes peace ; others do not." Srila Prabhupada teaches us : "Two words are very significant in this verse. Trayanam indicates "three", namely Lord Brahma, Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu. Bhidam means "different." They are three, and therefore they are separate, but at the same time they are one. This is the philosophy of simultaneous oneness and difference, which is called acintya-bhedabheda-tattva.The example given in the Brahma-samahita is that milk and yogert are simultaneously one and different ; both are milk, but the yogert has become changed. In order to achieve real peace, one should see everything and every living entity, including Lord Brahma and Lord Shiva, as non-different from the Supreme Personality of Godhead. No one is independent. Everyone of us is an expansion of the Supreme Personality of Godhead. This accounts for unity in diversity. There are diverse manifestations, but, at the same time, they are one in Vishnu. Everything is an expansion of Vishnu's energy." ****************************************** ( from Srila Prabhupada's purport on Srimad-Bhagavatam 2.2.36 ) "It is said here that it is incumbent upon the human beings to hear because the scriptures like Bhagavad-gita and Srimad-Bhagavatam are made for that purpose. Living beings other than human beings have no ability to hear such Vedic literatures. If human society gives itself to the process of hearing the Vedic literature, it will not become a victim to the impious sounds vibrated by impious men who degrade the standards of the total society. Hearing is solidified by the process of chanting. One who has perfectly heard from the perfect source becomes convinced about the all-pervading Personality of Godhead and thus becomes enthusiastic in glorifying the Lord. All the great acaryas, like Ramanuja, Madhva, Caitanya, Sarasvati Thakura or even, in other countries, Muhammad, Christ and others, have all extensively glorified the Lord by chanting always and in every place. Because the Lord is all-pervading, it is essential to glorify Him always and everywhere. In the process of glorifying the Lord there should be no restriction of time and space. This is called sanatana-dharma or bhagavata-dharma. Sanatana means eternal, always and everywhere. Bhagavata means pertaining to Bhagavan, the Lord. The Lord is the master of all time and all space, and therefore the Lord's holy name must be heard, glorified and remembered everywhere in the world. That will bring about the desired peace and prosperity so eagerly awaited by the people of the world. The word ca includes all the remaining processes or methods of bhakti-yoga, as mentioned above." ********************************** >From My Relationship With Lord Krsna by His Holiness Satswarupa das Goswami continuing to pray to the Supreme Lord: "...In an hour I will go for a walk to the promontory fort. It's not really a fort, but a cliff jutting out into the ocean where long ago a fort once existed. There I will seek my relationship with You. My tendency is to belittle myself. I tell myself I am not interested in finding You. I tell myself that I am going to chant my rounds by the sea to get the quota done. I tell myself that I am like a Romantic poet, a Shelly or a Byron, speaking poetic words into the air, instead of trying to please You. But it is not really true. I do have a grain of sincerity. I can go to the cliff and seek You. You are my best friend. Srila Prabhupada will be pleased if I can speak my heart to You and chant with attention..." ******************************************** Caitanya-Caritamrita , Antya, Chapter 3, text 60 "If a devotee once utters the holy name of the Lord, or if it penetrates his mind or enters his ear, which is the channel of aural reception, that holy name will certainly deliver him from material bondage, whether vibrated properly or improperly, with correct or incorrect grammar, and properly joined or vibrated in separate parts. O brahmana, the potency of the holy name is therefore certainly great. However, if one uses the vibration of the holy name for the benefit of the material body, for material wealth and followers, or under the influence of greed or atheism--in other words, if one utters the name with offenses--such chanting will not produce the desired result very soon. Therefore one should diligently avoid offenses in chanting the holy name of the Lord."
