Guest guest
Dear prabhus, Please accept my humble obeisances at the lotus feet of Srila Prabhupada. om namo bhagavate vasudevaya om namo bhagavate vasudevaya om namo bhagavate vasudevaya (Many of us know the life events leading to the offering of Queen Kunti's prayers to our Lord Sri Krsna. Srimati Kuntidevi expresses how she feels about all these seemingly terrible events in the following prayer) Srimad Bhagawatam , Canto 1 - chapter 8- verse 25 "I wish that all those calamities would happen again and again so that we could see You again and again, for seeing You means that we will no longer see repeated births and deaths." Srila Prabhupada teaches us (partial purport) : "Generally the distressed, the needy, the intelligent and the inquisitive, who have performed some pious activities, worship or begin to worship the Lord. Others, who are thriving on misdeeds only, regardless of status, cannot approach the Supreme due to being mislead by the illusory energy. Therefore , for a pious person, if there is some calamity there is no alternative than to take take shelter of the lotus feet of the Lord. Constantly remembering the lotus feet of the Lord means preparing for liberation from birth and death. Therefore, even though there are so-called calamities, they are welcome because they give us an opportunity to remember the Lord, which means liberation..." ********************************************** The following is taken from Srila Prabhupada's preface for his 10th Canto work Krsna, the Supreme Personality of Godhead , also known as "Krsna Book" in which he explaines Krsna consciousness : "...In the Bhagavad Gita it is said that the individual person is the proprietor or master of the body, but Krsna, who is the Supresoul , present in everyone's heart, is the supreme proprietor and supreme master of each and every individual body. As such, if we consentrate our loving propensities upon Krsna only, then immediately universal love, unity and tranquility will be automatically realized. When one waters the root of the tree, he automatically waters the branches , twigs, leaves and flowers ; when one supplies food to the stomach through the mouth, he satisfies all the various parts of the body. The art of focusing ones attention on the Supreme and giving one's love to Him is called Krsna consciousness...... One can directly perceive the effects that love for Krsna has on his life...Whatever percentage of Krsna consciousness we can perform will become an eternal asset to our life, for it is imperishable in all circumstances... It is said in the Bhagavad Gta that even a little effort expended on the path of Krsna consciousness can save one from the greatest danger..." ********************************************* >From My Relationship With Lord Krsna by His Holiness Satswarupa das Goswami His prayers continue : "...One day I will forget the false ego and assume my place in the spiritual world. Srila Prabhupada encouraged us to work now as a disciple of our spiritual master. He said that was sufficient spiritual identity for now. He also told us to be humble. Humility is the perfect behavior for the soul. I am trying. I cook in the kitchen and realize bliss. I work at writing and feel inspired by the opportunity to speak in parampara. I am not looking for prizes. My dear Lord, I want only humility and eyes anointed with the salve of love. What do I remember? I want to remember Your lifting Govardhana Hill and how the rains were coming down in sheets, sent by angry Indra. He was trying to kill the residents of Vrindavana because they followed the advice of their "talkative little friend." I want to remember how You defeated Him. I also want to remember how You forcibly took Sudama's chipped rice offering. Sudama was thin and poor, and You were the king. You seated Sudama in a place of honor and washed his feet with Your own hands. I want to think of Sudama's embarrassment at the moment, but how he was obedient to Your desire.Of course, he was transformed by ecstasy just to be in Your presence. I want to keep that picture in my heart..."
