Krishna Himself says in the Bhagawad Gita 9.30 that even if a Krishna concious person commits the most abominable act, if he is truly Krishna concious, should be considered a saintly person. So if such a person is to be considered saintly even if he commits such abominable acts NOW, what to speak of when they were not in Krishna conciousness. Chapter 9. The Most Confidential Knowledge TEXT 30 api cet su-duracaro bhajate mam ananya-bhak sadhur eva sa mantavyah samyag vyavasito hi sah TRANSLATION Even if one commits the most abominable actions, if he is engaged in devotional service, he is to be considered saintly because he is properly situated. Hence we should not try to find fault with what saintly persons are doing. Not now, not ever. It is really "Sant aparadh" to try and dig up dirt on highly elevated souls. This reminds me of a piece of advice that a saintly devotee had given me a long time ago when I was just a little kid. He said," When you go to the temple to worship Krishna, that is the ONLY thing you do. To remark or even to think that someone else around you is not worshipping properly or doing this or that is actually "nama aparadh" because while taking Krishna's name, you are not paying attention and are thinking of mundane things." As we devotees remind ourselves every day while thinking of the ten offences: "It is also an offence to be inattentive while chanting. Every devotee who claims to be a Vaishnava must carefully guard against these ten offences in order to quickly achieve the desired success, Krushna prema." If this is the case with any living being, how much more so is it in the case of those who are actually aware of their eternal identity? The nitya-siddhas like Bhaktivinoda Thakura are thus nitya-muktas too. MDd
