Saibaba announces drinking water scheme for Krishna, Godavari

Friday July 22 2005 12:47 IST

ANANTAPUR: As Guru Poornima gift, Saibaba announced that he would

slake the thirst of the people of Krishna district who had been

suffering from drinking water problem.

On the occasion of Guru Poornima, a special programme was organised

at Sai Kulwant hall in Prashanti Nilayam at Puttaparti. On such

occasions normally, Saibaba delvers religious discourse. But today

Saibaba took the audience by pleasant surprise by announcing that he

would leave no stone unturned in providing drinking water to the

people of upland areas of Krishna and twin Godavari districts.

Whatever be the expenses, Saibaba said he would complete the project.

The drinking water project in West Godavari district was completed,

Saibaba said and added that former engineer Kondala Rao would

inaugurate it tomorrow. In his discourse, Saibaba announced that he

would provide potable water to 10 lakh people in the Godavari

districts and said water, like air, was a sine qua non of life.

Serving poor people is more important than spiritual programmes, Baba

said. He would give priority to the problems faced by the poor people.

Saibaba revealed that the Maoists tried to stop the survey that was

undertaken as part the water scheme. When the Maoists were told that

the survey was meant to provide drinking water to the upland area

people of Godavari districts, undertaken by Saibaba, Maoists extended

cooperation and gave suggestions for improvement of the scheme,

Saibaba said.

World famous music director Betahak and musicians from 17 countries

mesmerised the devotees by their performances. The students of Satya

Sai educational institutions staged Lava-Kusa play and narrated the

story of Ramayan.

Tourisn Minister J Geeta Reddy, Moulana Bahuvuddin from Israel, Ravi

David, spiritualist Anne Baker from New York and devotees from

various nations were present.

It was surprising that many devotees from Karnataka took part. Baba

spent less time this year in giving discourse.

ICWA rankers owe their success to hard work and God's grace

Friday July 22 2005 12:27 IST

VIJAYAWADA: Continuous and constant monitoring by parents and

teachers is a must for achieving ranks, feels V Radhika, ICWA

national-level first ranker. She stood first in getting a rank in

ICWA before completing degree course.

She attributed her success to the guidance of the Modern Academy

where she studied. Daughter of S Viswanathan, area manager of a

medical company and M Asha, a teacher of Atkinson, she completed her

plus two education at Atkinson High School here.

She used to participate in debate competitions and stood first in her

class throughout her career and won gold medal at national level in

ICWA stage-II examination. Before completing her degree, she bagged a

national level first rank in ICWA for the first time in the history

of ICWA.

Radhika, also a gold medallist in Hindi Praveena, is well versed in

rendering slokas and interested in reading story books.

Her class mate PL Sirisha also bagged national-level sixth rank in

ICWA. Completing her B.Com degree in Satya Sai Educational

Institutions in Puttparthi, Sirisha daughter of P Jwala Lakshmi, a

Canara Bank employee here, pursued her ICWA study here. She feels

that one should concentrate on studies for achieving their goal by

working hard.

Interestingly both the girls were picked up by Coca-Cola company and

posted them as trainee executive officers. Both the friends who had a

strong belief in god's grace are leaving for Gurgoan to undergo

training.
