DIABETIC CARE: DO’S AND DON’T’S

 

 

DO:

 

v Diet control as advised by your doctor.

 

v Exercise as recommended by your doctor.

 

v Maintain good hygiene

 

v Take medicines / insulin regularly.

 

v Get your blood sugar checked regularly.

 

v Be aware of the symptoms of hypoglycemia and its management.

 

v Do meditation - maintain calmness of the mind.

 

v Take bath daily.

 

v Take care of your eyes and foot.

 

v Use wheat, ragi, and old rice for preparing your food.

 

v You can have horse gram, bitter gourd, cauliflower, cuisines, radish,

cucumber, potato, leafy vegetables, hingu, sarshapa, jeeraka, methika, and

buttermilk in your food.

 

v You can take jambu, gawjava fruits, gooseberries, badam, acrot, cashew

nut, and pista.

 

v Carry your diabetes identification card and your doctor’s telephone number

with you always.

 

 

Don’t

v Avoid sugar items (sweets), milk, curds, butter, ghee, and ice creams.

 

v Avoid spicy, oily, fried, non-vegetarian foods.

 

v Don’t smoke

 

v Don’t take alcohol.

 

v Don’t gain weight

 

v Avoid day sleep

 

v Avoid worries, tension, anger

 

v Don’t be idle

 

v Avoid fruits like banana, grapes, mango, orange, jackfruit, and apple.

 

v Never go barefoot.

 

v Never cut corns or calluses.
