I am 57 M undergoing treatment for Hypertension & High Cholesterol since the

last 5 years. However thanks to the prescribed drugs and the exercises regimen,

I have no complaints in this regard. But I have a separate complaint which is

unrelated to the above which is as follows:

My problem which started about 6 months back, is the falling of hair in patches

in certain spots over the scalp. It was diagnosed as Aloepacia aerata for which

I had an allopathic treatment for 1 month, which resulted in scant growth of

hair in part of the affected area, but whatever hair sprouted was white. Further

treatment suggested was periodical injections to the affected region which I did

not go through. Thereafter i tried Homeo for 2 months without any improvement.

Now for the last 2 months I have been undergoing Ayurvedic treatment: Daily

application of a combination of DURDURAPATRADI AND MALATHYADI tailams to the

affected area and rubbed with onions. Consumption of GUGGULATIKTAM kashayam and

also an arishtam KUMARYASAVAM. . I was also suggested to apply HASTHIDANTA

mashi, which unfortunately is not available.

The result is that there seems to be a very slight improvement in some spots.

But my mail worry is at the back of the neck which is still too smooth, devoid

of any growth whatsoever.

So do you think, if I am on the right track with the above treatment? I have

been following all the recommended dietary restrictions strictly.

Thanking you,

Ranjit

Dear Ranjit

Thanks for joining our group.

Definition of Alopecia Areata

Alopecia areata is the name for a condition in which round patches of hair loss

appear suddenly. The hair-growing tissue is attacked by the patient's own immune

cells for unknown reasons. There are three stages: first, there is sudden hair

loss, then the patches of hair loss enlarge, and last, new hair grows back. This

process takes months, sometimes more than a year, but rarely does the hair never

grow back.

So if you think, I am on the right track with the above treatment.
