Guest guest
Dear Vinod Teeth grinding is only one of many symptoms of intestinal worms. Other possible symptoms are: 1. Saliva leaks out of mouth in sleep 2. Vomitting sometimes with worms coming out of mouth, when their populations increases large number. 3. Frequent motions, often semi-loose, with attendant stomach pain while passing motions, motion may contain worms. 4. Itching near private parts especially near anus. Itching on other parts of bodies also has been noted in some children. 5. Mucous discharge through mouth, nose. Mucous may be present in stools also. 6. Anemia, no weight build up despite food intake. Worms spread to intestines and suck blood from intestinal walls. 7. Indigestion, gas, bloating, irritable nature. 8. Craving for sweets, carbohydrates, chocolates etc. 9. Sometimes worms have caused Epiletic seizures and unconsciousness. 10. In women, worms often cause dirty menses. 11. Rarely, worms cause Asthma symptoms also. Not all symptoms may be present simultaneously. Vaidyas often can feel the worms when stomach is pressed near colon ends. Modern science recognises several varieties of worms such as round, tape, hook, pin worms etc. There are different remedies for different type of worms, as identified by pathologist. Treatment for a week may be needed eliminating worms but not their eggs and future larvae. In ayurveda, however, no differentialtion is made. Worms can grow in the human body only in Kapha medium. Here Kapha may be treated as half-digested food converting to mucous. Hence treatment also aims at reducing Kapha. Worms increase very rapidly, and eat Kapha, which otherwise could change to 'Rasa' and further Dhatus. As their population grows, They spread to all organs, including liver, gall bladder, stomach, pancreas, spleen in search of food. When they reach lungs, asthma symptoms show up. Though modern science calls specis seen with naked eye as worms, ayurveda includes even smaller microscopic variety. Parasites may be more appropriate term. Before looking at treatment, let us first see preventive measures. IN ayurveda, prevention is given more importance than treating and curing. Curing is the ultimate aim. Since worm eggs are often picked up through dust, soil, while playing, it is necessary that children keep their nails short and wash hands, feet thoroughly when they return home after playing on ground. Drinking water should be 25% boiled and cooled before drinking. Vegetables used in cooking should also be thoroughly washed before use. Avoid sweets, Jaggery, Chocolates, Maida items, Urid dhal items, junk foods, foods availble outside house, where hygeine conditions may be suspect. Avoid Curd, Sweetened milk, shrikhand, Mava, etc. If possible, child should be given Green gram water 3-4 times a day for 3-4 days. Treatment: The ayurvedic treatment should be taken at least for a month, and most Vaidyas generally recommend for 2 months. The treatment taken this way, eliminates complete population of worms since eggs and larvae are also eliminated. Ayurvedic medicines generally act slow and steady, to win ultimate race against worms. Several herbs are used. Most widely known medicine to every grandma in India is Vavding or Vidangarishta made by several pharmacies in India. For Babies sucking milk out of bottle, Milk can be boiled with Vavding for 15 minutes. Breast feed babies are least likely to have worms. For grown up children several other options available: Herbs such as Kankach, Kadu (Kutaj), Kariyatu (Chirait), Kirmani Ajwain, Indrajav, Vavding, Vapumbha, Khakhra Seeds can be powdered, mixed in equal proportion and take 1/2-1 tsp with water 2-3 times a day depending on age, severity etc. For Indians, first four names of herbs are easy to remember since they start with K and ailment they treat is "Krimi", a Sanskrit name for worms. Names given here are adequate in northern India to buy these herbs. If needed, Latin names will be supplied. For children under age 1 year, Janmaghuti also contains mostly all the above herbs. For those who find it difficult to obtain above herbs, a Tablet under the name 'Krimi Kuthar' is also available made by several pharmacies. The dose is generally 1-2 tablets 2-3 times a day, depending on age, severity. Vidangarishta, a liquid medicine can be taken 1-2 tsp with equal water twice or thrice a day depending on age, severity etc. For tape worms, the peel of pomegranate fruit, dried and powdered, is useful medicine. For round worms which are long, if nothing else is available, Castor oil 1-3 tsp taken with a cup of warm Tea in the morning will act on them in 3-4 hours, but will not eliminate eggs. Needs to be taken for a week at least as per authors childhood experience. This was a quarterly program in the house. In general, larger the size of the worms, easier it is to eliminate them It needs to be noted that the dose for all these can be tapered off after a month. None of the above recommendations contain any heavy metals or objectionable Bhasmas. Honey and Bilavavleha are benificial if taken along with medicine. Honey is Kapha-nashaka and makes the bitter medicine attractive for children. Bilvavleha is a ketch-up of Baila tree fruit pulp. This fruit pulp is used in Mucosal Collitis, in addition to worms in children. Since Kapha is the root cause which offers attractive environment for worms to grow, its elimination by using other Kapha Nashakas (Trikatu churna) is also helpful. Beauty of ayurveda is that it never recommends any heavy medicines for children. Though several recommendations are given here, this message can not become substitute for consultation with a Vaidya. Guest guest
Hi there This is Dr.Patki from New jersy. Actually ,It appears that grinding of the teeth can occur in association with other sleep disorders such as night-time muscle cramps, bed-wetting, colic, drooling, and sleep talking. Sleep disturbances may be an underlying cause of these activities. While tooth grinding in adults is usually a sign of stress, in kids it is probably more of a habit than anything else. Treatment is usually not necessary since baby teeth don't need to last that long, and it would take some pretty hard grinding to wear them down to a worrisome level before they were ready to come out on their own. --- TRUST MEDICAL SUPPLIES <mediintl wrote: > please inform any remedy for my child 5 years old > teeth grinding. > > is there any remedy ayurvedic or home remedy please > inform will appreciate > your kind reply. > > regards > > imtu
