Hi Bill

Fibromyalgia is not a diagnostic classification in Ayurveda. You may

want to look under conditions such as amavata, vatarakta and

vatavyadhi (which includes about 80 different disorders) in texts like

the Madhava nidanam or the Bhavaprakasha (both translated by KR

Srikanthamurthy). The common etiology here are foods, climatic

influences and lifestyle behaviors that affect promote congestion,

weaken agni and vitiate vata. I have a paper available on amavata at:

nourishing, protecting and ensuring the proper circulation of ojas is a

big part of fibromylagia treatment, but the latent toxemia (ama) and

established patterns of inflammation and hypersensitivity makes this

difficult, and hence the challenge

good Indian herbs include Guggulu, Guduchi, Majishta, Haridra, Shunthi,

and Jatiphala; others include Reishi mushroom and Black Cohosh. Pain

relief and encouraging a proper sleep is important. There are also

many helpful nutrients such as A, B, C, E, zinc, magnesium, sulfur

(e.g. MSM, garlic to restore glutathione conjugation), mallic acid,

EPA/DHA etc.

breath work, meditation, relaxation and topical therapies (e.g. Pinda

taila, mahanarayana taila, dragon's blood etc prior to sudation) are

also helpful

in terms of diet, no dairy, flour, commercial meat, alcohol, sweets,

drugs, food additives, etc.

sometimes these people are what are called "pathological detoxifiers,"

and thus need the coenzymes that assist in phase II liver metabolism,

some already mentioned
