Guest guest
"Lord" Dhanvantari is an "avatar"of Vishnu, in the saagar manthan story of the Puranas, where the "poison"came up first, and was consumed by Lord "Shiva", following which the "Nectar"came out , and started the first ever "holy war"between the raakshas and the Gods, when Vishnu took the form of a woman, took away the Nectar from the raakshas, and poured it in the hands / cups of the Gods. So, you may say that it is a female form, but an avatar of Vishnu ( which is a male form ). After the event, Lord Narayana ( Vishnu) served as Dhanvantari --the male form--in treating people. Dhanavantari, is the male form , as commonly accepted. ayurveda wrote: ayurveda ------ There are 2 messages in this issue. Topics in this digest: 1. Re: Dhanvantari day sudha anand 2. I've also never seen Dhanvantari represented as anything other than a male. happy Diwali...
