Indigestion Problems

Hi,

 

Are there any ayurvedic medicines or remedies available for

indigestion and excessive gas. Basically, I get lot of gas

after eating ... even though I'm a vegetarian and take

proper care of what I eat.

 

Any help is appreciated.

Hi Jay

 

if you eat legumes, legumes promote wind

cook them with spicy (garlic, ginger, pepper) and aromatic herbs (dill,

oregano, basil) etc.

cook them well and eat them with fat (butter, oil etc.)

 

avoid raw foods

 

you can also prepare a nice tea with ginger, cardamon and coriander

seed taken between meals

 

you might also want to take a digestive enzyme, and a bitter herb like

turmeric before meals

 

failing this, try some strengthening herbs like ashvagandha,

astragalus, ginseng, atractylodes, with some aromatics like orange

peel, ginger, and cardamon

 

and if this doesn't work, you may want to look at dietary changes, and

find an alternate source of protein (e.g eggs)

many of my vegetarian students that have switched to eating at least

eggs have noticed big improvements in digestion and general health
