Hi

I would be highly grateful if someone could give me some insight to this

following problem.

One of my friends ( She is 33 yrs old) is suffering from Acute Renal Failure.

Doctor has told her that she has only 25% of her kidneys working. She was

diagnosed for renal failure last month. Her Blood pressure is somewhere between

130-150/90-95 . In february when she had checked her BP, it was normal. Her BP

has increased since last month. Her creatinine is 2.7 and BUN(Blood,Urea,

Nitrogen) is at 32 . Her renal ultrasound is normal. Doctor has asked her to

undergo kidney biopsy.

My friend stays at US and is originally from India. She has been in US for past 7

years. One of the doctors in US was telling her that he has found quite a few

indians suffering from kidney failure. He attributed this to the sudden change

in weather conditions . He said that since Indians are used to warm climate in

India and when they suddenly move to a colder climate ,this problem seem to

arise. Has anyone from this group heard about this??.

I would be highly grateful if someone could tell us what is the medications used

in ayurveda for renal failure. Is there any yogic asanas or pranayams that could

help her?

Hoping to hear something very positive from ayurveda group.

Thanks

Sarika

Dear Sarika,

As a yoga instructor, I have found that Half Spinal Twist or a variation of this

pose is especially good for the kidneys. Just have your friend do what they can

do. You may have to adjust the pose since many people are not flexible. One

site that has this pose is

http://www.google.com/search?q=half+spinal+twist&meta=
