Guest guest
I have no familyhistory of thyroid disorders. I was on birth control pills for 10 years, without stop. I stopped using the birth control pills five months ago and have not taken one pill since. Two months ago, (3 months after stopping the pills) I noticed that my hair was falling out. I also became ill with a stomach virus and threw up quite a bit for two weeks. Concerned about my hair, I went in for blood tests and they said my thyroid levels were too low and prescribed thyroid medicine. I have no other symptoms of hypothyroidism - my energy levels are fine. I do have some problems with constipation, but I have had this my whole life (as does my family), though I have been very regular for the past few months. I believe the birth control pills, or more accurately, the sudden stopping of using the birth control pills had a strong effect on the overall hormones in my body. Can you recommend any natural ayurvedic treatments for this condition? Thank you.
Guest guest
Your analysis is no doubt correct. Birth control pills taken over long time are very harmful to hormonal balance in general. also sudduenly stopping these substances can shock the body and confuse the normal hormonal functions. Best way to determine if you really do have a thyroid problem is to take your temperature several times a day for several days - average each days temps. If your average day time temps are less than 98.2 - one must suspect thyroid problems. Take an herbal preperation which acts as a general support to the body for sometime and let the body rebalance its own hormones. Shatavari and Dong Kwai type preperations act as support and tonic for female reproductive system.
