Guest guest Posted July 30, 2004 Report Share Posted July 30, 2004 According to the samkhya system the tattvas comes in four groups, if I have understood things correctly. 1. Purusha (pure spirit) 2. Prakriti, (primal nature) she is the cause but not effect of anything 3. Mahat, (Cosmic intelligence, Ahamkara, Manas) they work both as causes and effects 4. Vikriti, (Pancha Tanmatras, Pancha Jnanendriyani, Pancha Karmendriyani) these arise through ego and work only as effects but not causes.
