Guest guest
Dear Connie, My late spiritual teacher, Yogi Bhajan suggested evacuating the bowels in crow pose, which is in a squatting position that naturally aligns the colon. He also suggested eating steamed beet greens. GB Khalsa
Guest guest
Hi Guru Khalsa and Connie Yogi Bhajan was a great gift to humanity and I have learned many things about postpartum ayurveda from a student of his tradition as well as from the Maharishi Ayurvedic Medicine. In the Sikh tradition postpartum doulas are called sevadars - it is all about service to the mother and her family. I find this elimination position helpful too, but might be difficult for some not accostomed and/or with perineal damage from childbirth for a while. The greens and the beetroot are wisely taken with vata pacifying seasonings and ghee or oil. A squeeze of lime juice is also nice.
