Dr Bhate and Martha -

Thank you both so much for your advice... I am definitely cooking

with a lot of ghee these days, and doing a Pitta and Vata-reducing

diet for the most part. Hemorrhoids are improving, and stools

are softening. I read in Dr. Vasant Lad's Home Remedies book

that drinking half pomegranate, half cranberry juice works as a

hemostatic to stop the bleeding, and it did right away. I am also

using an herbal balm given to me from a naturopathic doctor

composed of yarrow, st john's wort, marshmallow, witch hazel,

butcher's broom, and vitamin E in a base of olive oil and beeswax.

it seems to be working well now. I shall have to print up all your

suggestions!

My Vaidya has not yet returned from India, so I haven't been able

to consult her. She is, however, having we take Shatavari Kalpa

and Mahasaubhagya Shunti daily for general postpartum recovery.

Baby is doing pretty well, except for some gas, especially in the

early evenings, and a phlegm problem from post nasal drip that

causes her to wake at night to try to clear her throat. But she is

eating and gaining weight well - about 10 lbs. now at 5 1/2 weeks!

Oh, she also seems to have the tendency to swallow air and/or

inhale milk when she's feeding. I think sometimes my milk comes

out very fast and she's trying to keep up with it. Or she's very

hungry when she latches on and eats too fast.

I named her Meera!

Blessings,

Connie
