Guest guest
Dear Learned people, Recently my son was prescribed Jyothismati liquid to be taken along with milk every day. I want to know what this medicine is and how effective it is? If you have any personal experiences please share. My son is 20 months old and is not talking yet. He has mild hydrocephalus, but otherwise seems to be doing fine. He started walking at 18 months and is a happy baby. Appreciate any responses. Guest guest
Dear Vany, Jyotishmati is one of the "brain tonics" used in ayurveda. Much information about it is available on the net (especially check the Himalaya Drugs site mentioned in the links section on the group home page). It is one of the medicine which is very useful but sadly misused by all and sundry under the name of it being a "brain tonic". Singular use of Jyotishmati will have no appreciable results. Though the fact that your 20 month old son is not yet talking and has mild hydrocephalus may indicate the use of Jyotishmati, I cannot see how it will work singularly. Secondly the preffered mode of use is nasya of jyotishmati oil. Please ask the person who has prescribed it what he expects from its use. If you have taken it from some article or like wise source I would prefer you use the money on something more beneficial.
Guest guest
Dear Sir, Thanks for your response. The medicine for prescribed by a friend of my father in law. I donot have contact with him. I will try to ask him the question though. What do you mean by "singular" use? Can you please elaborate? Thanks, Vani > Singular use of Jyotishmati will have no appreciable results. Guest guest
Jyotishmati is an excellent drug of plant origin. It is traditionally used as intellangence enhancer. It is also useful in many nurological disorders including spastic children. It is given in avrey small dose. I large dose it may induce clonic jerks (Convulsions) as seen in epilepsy. Jyotishmati is widely used orally. I am using Single Jyotishmati in my clinical practice for last 15 years very effectively. It is very irritant for nasya administration. Guest guest
By singular use, I mean using just Jyotishmati liquid / powder / tablets. Jyotishmati is generally to be used as a part of medicines prescribed for a variety of ailments. To give a very crude example, suppose a blockage in a gas pipeline has caused an explosion in some place. The people concerned with removing the blockage come and remove the blockage. But unless and untill the other concerned people do not repair the blownup pipeline, gas flow to the remaining area will still remain affected. Jyotishmati acts like the people who remove the blockage. Cybervaidya > What do you mean by "singular" use? Can you please elaborate?
